Irish Times Best Places to Stay in Ireland

Irish Times Best Places to Stay in Ireland

Last weekend the Irish Times Weekend magazine published an article on the 100 Best Places to Stay in Ireland.  We are thrilled to be included in this prestigious listing in Ireland’s most influential newspaper!  We have worked at our business for so many years with the intention that we provide a ‘real rural experience’ for our guests. Travel writer Catherine Mack described Fuchsia Lane Farm as offering ‘the best farm fåilte (Irish for welcome) that you could get’.  We won’t argue against that!  Inclusion in this list has given us a fantastic boost and acknowledgment for our efforts.

We don’t strive to have a huge business here but rather one that allows us to share our place with others who value space, peace, closeness to nature and the chance to be ‘with themselves’.  For us it’s a business that allows us to create a life where we can work where we live, and work at what we love.

We hope our guests enjoy it too!

Irelands Best Kept Village

Visit Irelands Best Kept Village

Our local village, Terryglass, has just won this amazing award as Irelands Best Kept Village. The competition, open to all towns and villages on the island of Ireland is a much sought after prize. We are delighted that our local community has received this accolade after years of hard work by dedicated volunteers.

Don’t just take my word for it, come and visit!

The Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government and the Northern Ireland Amenity Council initiated Ireland’s Best Kept Towns competition in 1995 to help raise the profile of the republic’s Tidy Towns competition and the north’s Best Kept competitions.
All entrants were marked on a number of factors including cleanliness, the outward appearance of buildings, the presentation of roads and public facilities, and the natural environment.

A Taste of Lough Derg

A Summer Series of Food Events as A Taste of Lough Derg Returns

Food producers and restaurant owners surrounding Lough Derg Lakelands have joined forces once again this summer in an effort to promote the region as a food tourism destination.  A Taste of Lough Derg returns for a third year this June and features over 30 food events taking place in villages and towns along the shores of Lough Derg in counties Clare, Galway and Tipperary until late September.

The calendar of events has been coordinated by the Lough Derg Marketing Group in conjunction with the food businesses in the region and was launched recently  by culinary icon Peter Ward from Country Choice Nenagh and The Milk Market in Limerick.

Speaking at the launch of programme Mr Ward commented that “It’s great to see businesses working in collaboration around Lough Derg. Cross selling, buying local produce, and shopping locally are key drivers in supporting the local economy. Creating events that will entice visitors into our towns and villages during the summer months is a key objective of A Taste of Lough Derg”

There’s an exciting programme of events for 2016 aimed at attracting new visitors to the region and providing them with a memorable food experience. It’s an opportunity to showcase the food produce in the area, some of the quality artisan food producers and established restaurants. Some of the highlights of the 2016 programme include the chance to meet a Beekeeper, take a trip on a kayak, walk some of the Lough Derg Way, experience the work inside a woollen mills, cookery and baking demonstrations and lots more.
