As part of our actions to encourage more environmentally sound holiday choices and in support of our Regenerative Tourism actions, we are encouraging potential guests to consider the option of taking the train!

We have investigated the best options for this and in conjunction with the Local Link bus service we can suggest two options at the moment.

Take the train to Ballinasloe, Co Galway and then use the Local Link service to Portumna. The 547 Route starts at the Train Station and will bring you to Portumna, which is just a 10 min drive from our cottages. We can assist with collecting you there, if necessary. There is also a Local Link from Portumna which can bring you to Terryglass, Route 322    The village is just 2km from our cottages.  While you are here we can offer you our free bicycles or if you wish, we can arrange for electric bike hire from one of our local suppliers.
