Autumn

As August gives way to September, there’s a clear sense of transition. The days are shorter, the light is different, and it’s a natural point to reflect on the months just past and prepare for what’s ahead.

This summer has been busy and rewarding. We’ve welcomed guests from across the world, hosted workshops with leaders and coaches, and shared our vision of the landscape itself as a space for conversations and connection. The energy and encouragement we’ve received in return have been invaluable to us as a family.

It’s not always easy to define what we do here. Labels can feel restrictive and misinterpreted. At the core, our aim is straightforward: to do the right thing for people, place, and planet. We create opportunities for guests to slow down, notice the quiet, and connect with the natural environment; whether that’s sitting in the meditation spaces in the woodland, walking the fields, swimming down at the lake, or sharing stories from the land. These experiences shape not only our guests’ sense of the place but also our own understanding of it.

We’ve also been reminded of how much people matter in shaping this story. Families and individuals have brought their own energy and perspectives: a family from Italy who relied on public transport and bikes to explore locally; an intergeneration group from Munich who enjoyed savoured our fresh bread and eggs, feeding the ponies and family games in the Haybarn Hub; friends from Stockholm who travelled overland, passionate about cycling and nature. Each encounter has reinforced what we value most: quiet, space, privacy, connection, and a genuine welcome.

These kinds of moments remind us why we do what we do. As we move into autumn, we carry with us the sense that we are creating something meaningful; for our guests, and for ourselves.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this summer and remember we are open for the seasons ahead!
